I've been passionate about health and fitness for twenty years - helping people to enjoy a better quality of life. Now it's my mission to pass on my vast knowledge, experience and expertise through presentations, seminars and workshops.
I'm an ordinary guy. When I was young I was no natural athlete – I was unfit and out of shape. In fact one of my old school friends recently wrote to me and said 'Who'd have thought the quiet, pear-shaped kid in the corner would end up being a personal trainer!'
It was when I was 18 that I decided I needed to start training. I purchased an Arnold Schwarzenegger home weights kit and started to 'pump iron' in my bedroom, following the exercise charts stuck on the wall. I eventually plucked up the courage to join one of those intimidating gyms.
Then, after completing my degree in Science, I found I couldn't get any work in my field due to the recession. And since I was training so much, it seemed natural to get a job in a gym. Thus my career was born – and I've never looked back.
I actually started at the 'topp'. My first job as a gym instructor was in a five-star health club in the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane London. The standards at the club were high, and it gave me a very solid grounding in professional ethics and the significance of high standards – something which has stayed with me ever since. I enjoyed it immensely, and quickly progressed to the role of club manager.
Three years on I decided to take a break and travelled across the world to Australia, where again I worked in a gym. After a few years I was once again the club manager. Eventually, when I was ready for the next challenge, I took the big leap to become my own boss – purchasing a fitness franchise which I ran for five years.
At this time, my desire to be totally self-dependent saw me sell the business and reinvent myself as a private personal trainer – specialising in corporate over-achievers and 'stress heads'.
Now I enjoy spreading the word of health and wellness through writing and speaking. I appear in the media regularly, have written a book on health, and run workshops and presentations making health and wellness simple and feasible for the workplace.
Having specialised in coaching corporate clients - primarily senior staff - for the last ten years, I've developed a simple, down-to-earth approach to health and wellness. It's all about cutting down the time and effort, while transforming your energy levels and optimising the way you feel at work.
